The Suminagashi Collection
The Suminagashi Collection
The Philosophy
Suminagashi is rooted in Zen Buddhism and the concept of mindfulness. Practitioners of suminagashi aim to achieve a state of calm and focus, allowing the patterns to emerge from the interaction of the ink and water without forcing them.
The Practice
Suminagashi is also a practice in accepting imperfection and the transience of life. The patterns created in suminagashi are unique and unpredictable, as they are formed by the interaction of the ink and water. Each pattern is a moment in time that can never be replicated, reminding us of the impermanence of all things.
Wabi-Sabi
The simplicity and elegance of suminagashi also reflect the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, which values the beauty of imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity. The philosophy of wabi-sabi emphasizes the importance of finding beauty in the natural world and accepting the inevitable changes that come with the passage of time.
The Present
In sum, the philosophy of suminagashi is about being present in the moment, accepting imperfection, and finding beauty in simplicity and impermanence.

Care Information
The best care is non-neglect. Keep using it - the oils from your hands or body will constantly nourish the leather, keeping it from moulding or drying out.
Keep away from extremely wet or hot places. If you do get your product soaked, remove all items from it and dry it in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sun to prevent discolouration or drying out the natural oils within the leather. In fron of a fan, by a window, overnight is fine.
This product is also really good for cleaning and conditioning your leather goods. Every 2-3 months is great, 6 months if you're busy, yearly at minimum if you want it to last.
